Summary

As the party traveled toward the Vel’Therin Expanse, they defeated a group of Silent Fist bandits trying to bully Cal into paying them. At a nearby tavern, they learned that the creator of the Scary Frankenstein Guy is a Drow named Lord Grindledark, who is reportedly traveling to the Kingdom of Caer Thalar. After Roz successfully stole an invisibility amulet from a local gambler, the group discovered that a patron of the tavern named The Seer had abducted their guide, Theratina, to sell her into slavery at the Arena of Vel’Therin Expanse. Following a three-day pursuit, the party arrived at the arena and chose to fight on Theratina’s behalf to settle her “debts”. They successfully slew a weakened Behir, securing 4 of its teeth and 6 of its scales as trophies, and liberated Theratina before retreating back into the city.

Events

  • There are many narrow creeŵs and shallow rivers as we travel along the river out of The Border City
  • A few hours into our walk we hear some commotion ahead
    • A single person (Cal) is arguing with a large group of people
    • The crowd is a group of bandits claiming Cal owes them money simply because they “own” the road
      • They are The Silent Fist
      • They want 5G per person to pass (including us)
      • We decide to fight them instead
      • We kill them all, Avenj claims their bones, and search the bodies to find:
  • Looking through the eyes of Hoots, I spot a tavern with people coming in and out of it about an hour away

  • We arrive at An Unnamed Tavern North of The Unnamed City
    • It is staffed by Asia
      • She claims the Travelling Tavern is in motion and is supposedly going to Brackenmill
      • Also she heard that a few days ago, a man who lost something passed by:
        • Her explanation made it clear that he was the creator of the Scary Frankenstein Guy (and lost him)
        • “He was this weird looking Drow with a long pointed nose”
        • “He wore no brands or colors. He wore this weird croft black cloak with a piece ripped off of the arm. And he wore the top half of a mask; only his eyes were covered”
          • Sounds like the missing part was The Awakening badge, and it was the other half of the voice changing mask
    • Cal rents a room (costs 2S) and we all get drinks and food (eggs; costs 6G)
    • There is a man in the corner of the room by a poker table who supposedly beat this Frankenstein creator in poker; we
      • When asked about it, he says a game of poker might jog his memory
      • We decide to play poker (5G buy-in)
      • We ask his name, but he says he’s often referred to as The Card-Jutsu
      • After a few games of cards (poker and war), he tells us the man was Lord Grindledark (he doesn’t know his first name)
  • Roz tries to get us to distract the two other people in the taven while he steals the Invisible Amulet
    • Theodore goes to Asia to pay the bill
      • She offers to forget the bill if they clean the place
    • Avenj goes to chat with and distract the other woman in the corner
      • She flirts with him
      • He gets uncomfortable and walks away
    • Roz is able to take the necklace off the man without being noticed
      • It is not longer invisible
      • He puts it in his pocket
  • Cal goes to flirt with the dreadlock lady
    • Her name is The Seer
    • She is a member of The Silent Fist
    • She defends the fact that they collect tolls as the elvish cities are “a utopia”
    • She shows him her necklace and it has vials with tiny people inside, banging on the glass
      • She claims they are prisoners (legally captured)
    • Cal tries to get her to explain how she got the people in there
      • Evidently her necklace is magic? (unsure)
  • Asia there is a campground out back that we can stay at for free
  • We notice Theratina is missing
    • We look for her and outside find The Seer on a horse with Theratina in one of her vials
    • Her horse begins to take off
    • We unsuccessfully scramble to stop her
    • We take the four horses out of the stable
    • There’s a wagon so Theodore begins the ride in it
      • We chase all throughout the night
      • Fortunately we can rotate sleeping in the wagon on our multi-day chase
      • She seems to not sleep
      • We chase her for 3 days
    • Eventually she enters Vel Rau’dan
      • Hoots watches as she goes into the city
      • She goes into the arena and Hoots loses sight
  • Roz casts Locate Object on Theratina’s Rapier
  • While heading to the arena we come across 2 massive Dragonborn bearing The Silent Fist’s sigil
  • We get to the arena and The Seer walks out with a hefty bag of gold, smiling at us
    • There is nothing really we can do since slave trading isn’t really illegal, plus she claims she carries prisoners
    • Theratina is supposed to fight 3 Goblins
    • We could either:
      • Pay Theratina’s fine: 200G for killing the 8 bandits
      • Fight on her behalf, but The Seer can choose new monsters for us to fight
  • We choose to fight
  • We need to pick red, blue, green, or yellow
    • We choose yellow
  • The announcer man hovers on a piece of metal to the center of the arena and introduces us
  • We level up!!!!
  • We are fighting a Behir
    • It’s old and has been fighting a long time so is already weakened
    • On the top of its head and on his life side it is wounded
      • The AC will be higher but it will be an automatic crit if we hit
    • We kill it and get 4 of its teeth and 6 of its scales
  • We quickly leave the arena before they try to get us to fight again
  • We end the session back in the city
