On the front is abyssal saying “call to me”; on the back is an engraving resembling a lock. We took this from the stitched boy after burying him alive in 00-First Session. We found an identical one embedded in an Oni’s temple in 04-Killing The Hag > Combat: The Oni, and Thompson left another on the table at The Iron Wake Mug.
We know what it does now. In 09-Avenj’s Death > Back on Ferrar’s Airship, Yharov gave one to Theratina; she failed an intelligence save, flipped it, and said “hello?” She dissolved into a pile of goo where she stood. The magic was conjuration and abjuration — it swapped her with the goo and took her to The Unknown.
Everyone else called to it and followed her to the Dimensional Blue Arena, where The Unknown killed Avenj on sight.
The Executioner turned into the same goo when we killed it.
