Summary

Events

Back at Vel Rau’dan

  • We come into Vel Rau’dan after our journey. It is dark out
  • We go back to The Iron Wake Mug and find our beds waiting for us
    • Theodore sets an alarm before we sleep
  • Theodore sends a message back to Otis:

    Otis, it’s Theodore. I escaped Aubertide. Are you safe? Who survived? I’m learning war magic then will return. Mentally reply with updates (max 25 words).”

  • Meanwhile, Raelor goes to Yharov’s room and mentions how we should tell Theratina about her family member’s clothes we found in [[]]
  • Yharov weaves a scarf for Theratina from her mother’s found clothes
  • Roz rolls a Religion check (only gets a 7)
    • While praying, he does recognize the voice coming from his shield
    • “You are named Roz. Your shield tells me so” (in a demonic voice)
    • …He (Jimmothy)belongs to all of us
    • …i am the goddness of lycanthropes (wearwolves)?
    • and Roz I need you… You hunt for artifacts…
    • the goddess wants the knife we are seeking. “The gods are not able to tell you what they possess and what they do as we are still unsure. But have you ever learned of the Sabertooth Beasts?” (he has not). “They are the ones that worship me. having 3 dens of 3 packs. the oldest being the outlaws. the next the western den. and the one that we hate the most is the dark beasts”
    • hates them because “they possess my powers but do not follow me.. the alpha of the dark beasts known as voric vale(?) and possess the item you want”
    • “It is because you care for Theratina and wish to know her true nature (in response to Roz saying if he does do this, it is not bc he serves this goddess; but out of his own volition)”
  • Jimmothy returns
    • He mentions he “doesn’t have a choice” sharing Roz’s secrets
    • “I didnt tell Malar anything; it was Selûne”
    • “Every time I shut my eyes, I’m in heaven and I hang out with Selûne and we talk”
  • We go to bed and wake up

The next day

  • Theratina has a stick in the ground trying to cast Dead Mist Lash at it
    • She is repeatedly failing but Avenj gives her a tip
    • She learns it, casting it successfully
  • She evidently was practicing all night as she is fast asleep at the table when we go downstairs
  • Avenj greets Diana
    • He asks her if the Warforged she previously mentioned seeing looked like him
    • She says he was similar, and he, too, looked like he was “made for the cold”
    • “He seemed like he was going somewhere important… it was South”
  • Raelor tells her we found Crown of Thorns, Crown of Ash
  • We head out to go collect our bounties

At The Citadel

  • We make our way to The Citadel
  • We find a man with a ton of coin behind a desk; the payment guy
  • We convince him to pay us 65g per Giant Toad
    • 195g for all 3
  • He doesn’t believe us that we have Young Blue Dragon
  • He whispers to another guy, talking about not paying us in full
  • We intimidate him into giving us the 6,000g per person (including Theratina)
  • We decide to stop by the Arena of Vel’Therin Expanse on the way to our shops to find Bruce and get paid for killing The Hag

At the Arena of Vel’Therin Expanse

  • We see Bruce with two gentlemen standing at the door, wearing the some colors he is
  • They let us in
  • There is a man with Bruce
    • dark in robes (intersting looking egntleman) with a massive scar down his face almost like a wofl attacked him. he seems friendly and approachable
    • This other guy leaves
  • We gives us a bag of 10,000 gold
  • He said today’s fight was a genetically modified Owlbear with 50:1 odds fighting it
    • He laughed at the notion of us fighting it
    • If The Hag were here, the odds would have been 10:1
  • The tiers in the arena are A-D and below are the general payouts
    • A: 50-100:1
    • B: 10-45:1
    • C: 5-10:1
    • D: 0.25-5:1
  • If we aren’t sponsored and die, we don’t get revived
    • He can’t sponsor us (he already has a group he sponsors)
    • His friend Ferrar (part of The Red Maw) is looking to
    • He said to be back tomorrow same time to meet him
    • Theres a B tier fight tomorrow, too
  • Yharov hands over the clothes from The Hag’s victims
    • Bruce and co will contact the families
  • We send a message back to Diana who tells us we can come pick up Theratina
  • Yharov and Raelor go get here while the rest of us to go shopping

At The Iron Wake Mug

  • Raelor and Yharov find Theratina who is eating a huge amount of food
  • They give her the 6,000g and she is stunned
    • They explain how she’s part of the crew
  • The sit her down and explain that they found her mother’s clothes in The Hag’s Lair
  • Theratina is stunned
  • Raelor and Yharov both make and fail a charisma save
  • The room shifts; they are standing in what seems to be a deserted wasteland
    • It is Mirrh’s Hollow
    • The village they are standing in is burnt to the ground
    • Standing outside of a burnt home is two Lizardfolk
    • Besides them is a nasty looking Night Hag (not the one we killed)
    • It shakes its head in disappointment and teleports away
    • They hear cracking under a table mat
    • They move it and find an egg which hatches a young Theratina
    • She finds her dead parents and she begins to scream and cry
    • She is in so much pain that she grows into the 9 year old we met
    • They teleport to the beach we met Theratina at, where she spends the next year alone
    • The memory ends
  • She says that she didn’t mean to share that memory
  • They head back to the group

At the Shops

At the Park

  • We decide to go hang near a fountain at the park and people watch
  • He dances horrible 5 performance check) and Theratina thinks it’s hilarious
    • She joins in
    • Some performers begin playing music and a crowd begins dancing
    • Avenj spawns a Skeleton and it begins dancing
    • Everyone gasps in fear but then Theratina jumps into its arms
    • Everyone thinks it’s part of the performance
  • Yharov notices Bruce and the wearwolf guy watching from afar
  • A few hours pass
    • Theodore spent the time copying his new spell scrolls into his book
  • Theratina finally sees her reflection and is freaked out that she is grown
  • We head home

At The Iron Wake Mug

  • Diana prepared ribs for us
  • Everyone prepares for bed
  • Raelor goes to Theratina’s room and reads her The Human King of the Elves
    • She asks, “Who is King Thorne Durell? I saw him in one of my dreams and you were angry with him”
    • He explains his backstory
    • They talk about his family and she creates another shared vision of them
    • “I wanted to find them”, she said
      • She is perhaps learning to use her powers willingly
  • Theodore goes to Roz’s room and asks for Invisible Amulet
    • He casts Identify
    • The magical item has a clone. It is some form of abjuration magic pulling in sound and transmitting it somewhere else
    • We recall that the The Card-Jutsu (the person we got it from) was waiting for a Grindledark

The Next Day

At The Arena of Vel’Therin Expanse

  • We go to Bruce’s tower at the Arena of Vel’Therin Expanse
  • We meet with werewolf guy who agrees to sponsor us
    • He will take 10% of the winnings in exchange for paying for our Resurrection (if necessary)
    • An excellent insight check shows he has no malicious intent
  • He claims he is in the city to get intel
    • He is looking for Vorick Bale (part of The Dark Beasts)
      • “originally all the werrewolfs come. from the sabertooth beaests. they got separted into 3 groups. the old laws (to the south), the red maw (moon hollow) and the dark beatss (twin vanes). the dark beasts go where they want, kill who they please, and noone challenges them”
  • He gets down on one knee and introduces himself to Theratina
    • He asks her if she was in The Unnamed City
    • She does not respond
    • Our insight check shows he has some sort of malicious intent
      • He knows something about her being there
  • Once away and our of earshot, we ask Theratina about werewolf guy
    • “He looks like someone I saw in The Unnamed City. He was recruiting, biting people, and bringing people into that tavern I told you not to go into”
  • We give Theratina the Hat of Disguise so that she remains safe during our fight
    • She turns into an anonymous person
  • We go back to werewolf guy’s room to finalize the deal
    • Before we touch the doorhandle, we overhear Bruce and werewolf guy talking about how they think that we are incapable of protecting Theratina and how she would be better in their “possession”
      • They claim someone is searching for her
  • We decide to confront them about it
    • Both of them look at us in shock
    • “Listen. I think it’s best as if you guys pretend you never heard anything”. We don’t want to take her from you. We are going to, but we don’t want to. When you killed the hag, you started her process.”
    • He somehow knows that she died because she grew
      • Perhaps when she dies, she comes back and grows?
    • “I can bring her to salvation” - werewolf guy
    • “I care for life. I shelter 45,000 wolves that have nowhere to go. Outside of our den, we protect something known as a santuary. We bring widows, elderly folk, etc that are effected by wars, famine, and the like.”
    • He claims he would never turn her into a werewolf
    • “A magic is in her, and it wants her to be capable of wielding it. So every time she dies, she will come back until the process is complete. Her final transformation. If she dies then, she is actually dead.”
    • When asked what he meant by “salvation”, he responds “She can be with people who can teach her, help her grow, and fulfill her destiny.”
    • “I want you to vow that you will bring her somewhere. That you will find her a stable home.”
      • We agree
    • He claims it’s a Grindledark who is searching for her, and claims we know which one
    • werewolf guy is from the
      • He wants to bring her to the Glasscat Grove in Moon Hollow (his sanctuary)
        • Glasscat Grove used to be a sanctuary that guarded a powerful artifact. The Silent Fist ran through this grove, one person killing all of them. Decades later, one of the old members went back, curing it (with the help of one powerful individual). Now a sanctuary named Moon Hollow has been created
    • “I am not to take one by force” - he is not going to try to force Theratina to go with him
    • “What I can offer you is strength. Is power. I can curse one of you.”
      • Yharov agrees. He becomes a werewolf
      • Roz also does it and becomes a weretiger
      • They now feel bound to him; they must serve him or something
      • Before he leaves, he licks his thumbs and puts it on Yharov and Roz; that feeling they felt is gone
  • As the session ends, we head down to sign up for the fight
  • NOTE: We are probably 15 days or so away from the next full moon
